Representation-

Music videos represent a lot of things such as societies problems such as police brutality or National identity. Big artists tend to use music videos to represent a problem with life if people can't understand or experience it to a certain extent just through there lyrics that's why they usually release there music videos the same time as their audio track. Such as Jay-Z 'Story Of O. J' in which he released the music video based around this song before the actual audio about race and economic value and the same race word such as black could be interpreted through many ways such as through his lyrics " Light Nigga, Dark Nigga, Faux Nigga, Real Nigga, Rich Nigga, Poor Nigga, House Nigga, Field Nigga, Still Nigga," these lyrics represent that all black people are not the same as once seen before and representing this by mocking the slavery era in a way by using what kind of slaves there were within that time. He also referred to his past experience with economic choices such as being able to buy an estate for a certain amount but he chose not to and now that estate is of much bigger value and how he lost money opportunities. Jay-z- 'The Story of OJ’ is really a song about we as a culture, having a plan, how we’re gonna push this forward. We all make money, and then we all lose money, as artists especially. There are countless styles of music videos such as Performance in which artists would dance within their videos to instil the rhythm of there song and video such as for example Katy perry who features eye catching performances. Narrative is where the artists presents a story within their video or lyrics such as Dave through his song Question Time in which he talks about politics and the UK politicians and their decisions to fulfil their own desires by gambling the life of the public. 

Editing-

Editing within music videos can really push certain artists music to a whole new level or create more recognition such as cuts or fading to different scenes  could easily mean or portray a powerful statement or the pace of the video itself could easily bring up a hyped up motive within the music video.

Moving Image shots-

Camera shots such as starting of with a close up could bring up a lot of questions on why the video started this way or panning out to show how small the artist feels such as hiding behind their lyrics.
